Obviously you have all heard of the Bad Brains – one of THE most influential bands of all time. I have been into them since I was 12 years old and they have significantly altered how I view the world around me. They influenced not only me, but many of the artists who have helped shape the world as we know it (the Beastie Boys to name one). You have also probably heard of Shepard Fairey, who has had a bit of influence on things lately. I hope you knew him as being one of the most defining street artists of his time, but perhaps you know him as the dude who did the Obama “Hope” print. He releases prints monthly on his site (obeygiant.com) for about 1/100th of what they would go for on the open market. You probably also know photographer Glen E. Friedman, or at least know his work – he is the guy who shot every iconic photo of hip hop and skate culture since it began, from Tony Hawk at 12 years old, Ice-fucking-T, Fugazi, Public Enemy, RUN-DMC, Minor Threat, the Misfits, Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, Henry Rollins and Black Flag to the Dead Kennedys….basically every goddam band and person who has shaped punk rock, hip hop and skateboarding.
Now, imagine, just imagine that Shepard took 4 of Glens classic photos of the Bad Brains and generated a graphic of his interpretation of those photos and produced 450 prints of that image. Then imagine Glen and Shepard and every member of the Bad Brains signed those prints. And then imagine Shepard put them for sale on his site for $120 this Thursday. You would be fucking pumped right. Not as fucking pumped as I was to find out that the Bad Brains put up a link on their site 2 days early, unannounced, for the true fans. Do not fucking sleep on this. Odds are by the time you read this, it will be too late.

So ODB and myself took our Ol’ Ladies out for dinner Saturday night at the HOTTEST spot in the city ….The Nook on Piedmont. A long time friend Doube G a.k.a. The Hammer and a few investors opened what will be the best damn spot in the city from here on out. Along with Gabe one of my best friends Adam (Bar Manager) is also working there and let me tell you this…. The drink selections are mothafucking TIGHT! A must try is the deconstructed Bloody Mary….a personal favorite of mine and includes Bloody Mix frozen into Cubes and just add Vodka….yeah – It will soon be your favorite too. All the food is out off this world and the “Totchos” are the best thing ever and you can get them “RedNeck” and all sorts of ways. Just GO. I wish my friends nothing but the best and from a look of things on Saturday which was the 2nd official day they were opened it looks like they will be doing just fine. If your into having some SuperGoodTimes you can catch us and the crew on the Patio crushing some brunch and beverages. Holla.

So the diamond has been sick all week long….I’m over having a fever now which is nice. The only thing that helped me get through the week at work was having endless RedBull available. I heart you RB.
I hope to get out this weekend and do some photos of me and some High Power Rifles….we shall see.

I just got back from Steamboat, CO which was epic even though ATL got more snow that we did. I have been taking tons of shots, but too busy to even edit them, much less post here. A couple weeks back I shot a bunch of stuff for Redbull for Supercross. Here are a few that I liked from the weekend.

Man o Man….Last night I rolled out to meet up with Rhett to accompany him to his first ever beat battle at the infamous SugarHill club in Underground Atlanta. I’ve been listening to his beats from the jump and I had to be there to show support because A: His shit is fire and B: See A again.
In talking to Rhett he was a little nervous and said it was similar to the nerves he gets when his on the dock ready to ride PWT…”Good Nerves”. Well the battle went a little something like this.
Rhett and we will just say Mr. X …..coin toss and Rhett wins. D.e.B. ain’t no sucka and let Mr. X go first. Mr. X played exactly what JPIV and I thought – some HOT 107.9 two in the morning shit. ”Guns,Ho’s,Drugs”.
D.e.B laced up his track and the heads were moving to the beat and you could tell people were there to hear his style of music and yet…..He lost Round 1. DAMN I said to myself “How the fuck did that happen”?
Round 2 D.e.B. dropped it on Mr. X and he never had a chance. Round 2 Winner …. So now it’s tied up 1-1 with the 3rd round being the finials- we were all fucking pumped and I knew he had some bangggggers up his sleeve. Needless to say Mr. X never stood a chance and Rhett WON!!! My dawgs first beat battle and he WON!!! SO pumped for him.
We had to sit through some other performances that I won’t even get into….you know what I mean. Then there was one more set of Producers to battle before Rhett would face that victor. One of the dudes had a skeleton mask on and was so animated with his moves while his shit was playing it scared the shit out of you…but in a good way- His beats were on point and we all knew he would be the winner of that round.
On to the finals…. So D.e.B was now up against Mr. Skeletor and it was hard. Mr. Skeletor had a fucking Coldplay mix that fucking knocked and it honestly blew me away. Rhett had some dope ass shit for him but in the end the crowd would be the judge.
Rhett may not have won but coming in Second place ain’t all that bad for your first time out. I texted Rhett on the way home to say good job and he replyed – ” I’m winning next month, you’ll see. I got fuel for the fire.”
