With due respect to Diamond and all the other Nikon shooters, the most anticipated camera in recent memory, the Canon 5d Mark II was released a few weeks ago. It has been virtually impossible to find over the last few weeks since its Thanksgiving release. This is obviously Canon’s upgrade to the much revered 5d, which was the must have camera for wedding and studio photographers in recent years, and I was not expecting to find it available for months. The huge demand is because it is the only full frame camera in Canon’s line up under $7k. The upgraded 5d goes 21megapixels and is the only camera in Canon’s line up that also shoots HD video – in 1080p. Its low light sensitivity makes flashes obsolete. I am so excited that I have been checking the FedEx shipping page for 3 days straight, like a kid counting down until Christmas. Well, Santa is set to arrive tomorrow and was last seen leaving Charlotte, NC a few hours ago. I’ll keep you posted.
One of the most viewed sites for my eyes. I really dig Chase’s work and here is a great way to introduce you to his photos… The Top 80 out of 4500′ish. here
This Friday I am headed off to New Zealand for the holidays for two weeks. Should be supergoodtimes. I am praying my new camera arrives before I leave. Adorama is claiming its already been shipped, and it appears they are not lying. But supplies of this thing make the Wii look like overstock.com. This is really crazy because I was number 1,000 on the waiting list not to long ago and no one else seems to be getting one. We shall see. Even if it doesnt arrive, there should be plenty of photo ops to make up for my very sparse posting over the last few weeks. Diamond has been carrying the torch alone for too long.
My good friend Chris at Oakley sent me these bad boys today….They come out late Jan/Fed ‘09 so be on the look out. Oakley is hands down the best eyewear in the world. Not only does their stuff look good it can just about save your life . Frogskins are still hot as hell but I think I have found my new favorite from the mighty Square O line up.
